The Opportunity
Golisano Children’s Hospital (GCH) at the University of Rochester Medical Center invites applications for the position of Chief of the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, an extraordinary opportunity to lead a nationally recognized, high-performing division at the only pediatric referral center serving the 17-county Finger Lakes region of New York.
The incoming Chief will inherit a division with deep clinical expertise, a vibrant fellowship training program, and a strong research culture, and will be positioned to expand and elevate all three missions within a well-resourced academic environment.
About Golisano Children’s Hospital
Golisano Children’s Hospital is the dedicated children’s hospital within the University of Rochester Medical Center, operating under the license of Strong Memorial Hospital, the adult hospital at URMC and the designated Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and burn center for the region. This close integration provides GCH with the full resources of a major academic medical center while maintaining a child- and family-centered environment. GCH is consistently ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report across nine specialty areas. The current 148-bed facility provides care across more than 40 specialty areas, serving over 85,000 children and families annually, with a two-floor expansion underway. The Department of Pediatrics ranks among the top 20 nationally in NIH-funded research.
The Division
The Division provides full-time, in-house coverage for:
PICU: 12-bed unit with dedicated ECMO resources providing continuous observation and comprehensive care for approximately 1,000 admissions per year.
Pediatric Cardiac Care Center (PCCC): 16-bed unit, also with an active ECMO program, that supports the regional pediatric cardiac surgery program covering Western and Central New York.
Additional Services: Sedation/vascular access service and regional Pediatric Transport Program.
Training programs include an ACGME-approved three-year Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship and a one-year Pediatric Neurocritical Care Fellowship, the only program of its kind in New York State.
Salary: $375K to $475K
Requirements
Qualifications
MD or DO with Board Certification in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, or equivalent
Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in New York State
Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor, or equivalent qualifications
Demonstrated excellence in clinical care, scholarship, and program leadership
Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and develop faculty
Experience growing clinical and research program within an academic medical center
